I wanted to share my new experience of treating a boy with Down Syndrome. He was referred to me from his therapist to help with his severe constipation. He is 14 years old and non verbal. He has had several surgeries, including a recent colonoscopy and has to do "cleanses" that
result in diarrhea for 3-4 days. Since working with him, he has been able to have more productive BM's but the biggest change so far (after 5 treatments) is that his mom says he is a different kid. He is so much happier and is in such a great mood after tx. After a recent visit, his mom
said that he just laughed out loud repeatedly in the car "and he never does that". I wasn't sure how he would would react and how I would be able to document changes with him being non verbal, but it goes to show you that this work goes so much farther beyond how words can tell
us. He looks elated and euphoric after tx. It has been such a blessing working with him and completely re-enforces the power of myofascial release! I am so grateful to be able to use this work every day!
What a blessing you have brought to this family…What ever the label or diagnoses it seems we humans tend to reflexively tighten…your shared experience with this boy shows us all, once again, the power of helping to remove the straight jacket, no matter the physical challenge
we are facing.
This ties in with the trusting Molly shared…Also the not needing to know…As I practice more and more, I embrace the not needing to know, how could we know what will shift for another…the holding of space is so powerful.
Thank you for sharing…ahhhhh I love this work…touching the souls of our clients, waiting with them at the barrier, keeping them safe as they go to places long held tight…allowing the release to come as they choose…we are blessed.
