SOMA Physical Therapy is an outpatient, orthopedic physical therapy clinic in Boulder Colorado founded by John's son Mark Barnes in 1993. SOMA is unlike most physical therapy clinics where our focus is on fundamental therapeutic elements of Myofascial Release, Yoga, Pilates, and Core Fitness. Our outcomes are very high because our approach is simple, effective, and helps our patients return home with the knowledge and skills to help themselves. All of the therapists have been trained by Mark Barnes and John F. Barnes, PT. The entire staff will collaborate in your care while you enjoy the beautiful space and healing environment.

For the therapist, we offer not only exceptional care as 3-5 day intensives, but also the opportunity to learn our specialized approaches to Yoga, Pilates, and Core Fitness to use with your patients once you return to your clinic. All of our treatment content and guidelines are on our online software Tx Xchange, and we offer a special deal for you to use it in your clinic with your patients. [www.txxchange.com]

In addition to our in-clinic treatment, patients continue their care on-line, as virtual office visits using our web-based software called Tx Xchange [Pronounced Treatment Exchange]. Tx Xchange is an innovative, clinical tool developed by fifteen year owner Mark Barnes, DPT. At SOMA, Tx Xchange gives you the opportunity to continue your care outside the clinic and actively participate in therapy. Your therapist will set you up on the software on your first visit. You simply go login from your computer and view your home treatment plan. Our patients all use the software, have a better clinical experience, and achieve their therapy and fitness goals faster.

Using Tx Xchange you are able to:
  • Communicate with your therapist online about your care and get your questions answered at your convenience.

  • Effectively replicate your exercises and treatments at home with the help of high-quality photos and video, as well as treatment instructions to guide you.

  • Receive educational health/wellness information about your injury or condition.

  • Receive clinical reminders that help you achieve your physical therapy and wellness goals.

  • Get announcements about yoga, pilates, and fitness classes with special discounts for services at SOMA.
